What is Kids Shaping Shepherd?

Kids Shaping Shepherd (KSS) is an engaging philanthropy experience for children ages 8 and up who want to make a difference. With more than 200 young members, KSS gives kids the opportunity to volunteer throughout the year at Shepherd Center and at Arthur M. Blank Family Housing. Through hands-on service projects and meaningful interactions, members learn the impact of compassion, giving, and community involvement.

Members attend two annual meetings to hear from patients and staff, learn about giving back, and see how their efforts make a real impact.

Our Mission

Kids Shaping Shepherd is on a mission to inspire the next generation of compassionate changemakers. Through hands-on service, educational events, and family engagement, KSS connects children with the values of empathy, leadership, and giving back.

We believe that even the smallest acts of kindness can make a big impact. By supporting Shepherd Center’s work with patients facing life-changing injuries or illnesses, KSS members learn what it means to serve others with dignity, hope, and heart.

Interested in Joining Kids Shaping Shepherd?

We’d love to have your family be part of the Kids Shaping Shepherd community!

KSS members commit to:

    • Attending two meetings per year (Spring and Fall)
    • Partnering on one group volunteer project each year
    • Supporting Shepherd Center with a $250 annual family gift or fundraising toward that goal

Every family receives a special Kids Shaping Shepherd yard sign to show their commitment and inspire others.

Whether you’re new to volunteering or already passionate about giving back, KSS offers a meaningful way for kids and families to learn, serve, and grow together.
